Traditional Buffalo Sauce

There are many different stories about how and when buffalo sauce was invented. Regardless of its origins, the spicy sauce has become a staple in sports bars across North America.
Makes: 1 cup of sauce
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 10 minutes

Ingredients

  • ½ cup Frank’s hot sauce
  • ½ cup Mirage margarine
  • 2 tablespoons white vinegar
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

Directions

  1. Mix all the ingredients in a saucepan, and over low heat bring to a simmer, stirring occasionally.

  3. Remove from heat, stirring every few minutes until cool.

  5. The buffalo sauce is now ready to be used for dipping, tossing, or glazing your favourite chicken wings.

Chef Notes

  • If you’re into a more fancy and less traditional sauce, try adding one clove of finely minced garlic, a generous amount of freshly ground pepper, and three tablespoons of honey, just as you take the sauce off the heat to cool.
